Introduction

  1. About Iran Economics
Iran Economics is an analytical, independent, originally Farsi-language magazine, launched with the cooperation of London Economist over 14 years ago. As such, it is the oldest privately owned and operated member of the economic media in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Our monthly, print issues are published with a first rate team of journalists, economists and managers in Tehran and San Francisco, and distributed internationally. Our website, in parallel, presents current and in depth analytical news on Iran and what is applicable to Iran and the Region.

    Million Visitors
Now we are launching and expanding our English website for our new readers, globally. Because of Iran Economics unique features, we are expecting million visitors.
As our mission, we advocate free enterprise, expansion of trade, foreign and reverse investment, good governance, meritocracy and internationalism. We go to great length to analyze the problems within Iran’s economy and propose solutions. In this way, we have been instrumental in pointing the accomplishments and the setbacks of the Iranian economy and policy making.

    Journal vis-à-vis Think Tank
Indeed, we are beyond a journal. We act as the most reliable and objective privately owned think tank in Iran. Indeed, we have contractual experience to act as a first-rate think tank.
Iran Economics follows research-oriented journalism, blended by cooperation of its complementary departments:
    • Information/Intelligence Unit
    • Research Department
    • International Unit
    • Statistical Unit
Our departments interact with specialized groups, overseen by our 11-member Editorial Board. This structure is unique within the Iranian press and the Region.

    Our Special Readers
Over the past 14 years, our goal has been to provide reliable information/data and objective analysis for our readers worldwide, including Iranian companies doing business abroad and international companies doing business in Iran. A significant segment of our readers, however, are the decision makers – domestically and internationally, both in the private-sector and within the governments.
Our readers encompass a large layer of readers domestically, including: Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran; the President; majority of Ministers and their deputies (top and mid-level); members of the Majles (the Parliament); academics; CEOs and CFOs of private sector and SOEs, the state-owned enterprises, such as banks, insurance companies, stock and commodity exchanges, and the manufacturing and trade industries. In a global perspective within and outside Iran, our readership and website visitors include ambassadors and other diplomats, foreign companies and trade groups, international institutions (e.g., the World Bank) and foreign organizations.

    Activities
During our tenure we have published over 150 monthly print issues with 10 years of website experience, identifying problems, pointing out challenges and advancing future prospects of Iran’s economy, with a blend of social and political dimensions, within the framework of our Cover Stories. In addition, we cover Iran’ other critical issues, special reports with diversified subjects, banks and stock exchange section, oil and energy, global view of Iran, analysis of the world's events, opinion polls and Iran's Government view of the globe. We look at facts and sensitive issues – such as sanctions – objectively

    Iran Economics’ other activities include:
    • Analyzing different economic subjects within the framework of Iran Economics Surveys of selected subjects, such as Iran’s growing non-oil exports.
    • Publishing special pamphlets on laws, regulations, challenges and policy proposals, such as 14 years of Economic Challenges.
    • Designing and managing economic and commercial conferences; e.g., Oil Seminar with the Center for Strategic Studies (Expediency Council) and the President’s Office of Technological Cooperation.
    • Maintaining an online version of the magazine, an archive which dates back to four years and newly lunched English click through Iran Economics website. We have launched “Iran at a Glance” which provides the past trends and forecasts of over 100 economic variables.

  2. Laurels and Awards
We have won several prizes including:
    • Best economic report and second placed economic article in the 14th Press Festival (2007).
    • Best economic report in the first Tax Press Festival (2004).
    • Best economic article in the 11th Press Festival (2004).
    • Best economic publication of Iran in the 8th Press Festival (2001).

    “Iran's Economy  at a Glance”
Iran Economics has taken its first step to launch an English Version in digital format. We have begun with the presentation of quantitative trends and forecasts of over 100 key indices and indicators of the Iranian economy – unprecedented in the domestic and the international landscape. These quantitative trends and analyses are, in fact, a “comparative advantage” of Iran Economics which, we believe, is superior to any comparable publications, domestic or international, including think tanks and global institutions. Indeed, it will be an enhancement of Iran’s objective and detailed analysis within the international community.
Forecasting the key indicators of Iran’s economy is one of the unique attribute of Iran Economics, since even the Central Bank of Iran and President’s Budget Office do not engage in. After compiling a variety of internal and external statistics and scrutinizing them for reliability, Iran Economics’ Research Department and Statistics Unit have categorized this set of data in various groups. In addition to exhibiting the past and the present developments, unreleased/undisclosed past data are estimated and future performance is forecasted. Our own unique economic model, methods and econometric techniques are the bases of these estimates and forecasts. To reduce the forecasts errors we additionally rely on Iran Economics Quarterly Poll of 10 economists and private and government sector managers.
Iraneconomics[dot]com is the venue through which this unique experience in Iran’s economy is being launched. As the new data are released and the economic, social and political conditions change, our records, estimates and forecasts are updated or revised every month, when necessary, by our team of economists and statisticians.
Our English website is being developed to reach a million visitors in the near future.
